Dr. Stefan Köngeter
Senior Lecturer, PhD, Institute for Social Pedagogy and Organization Studies, University of Hildesheim, Research interests: Child and Youth Care, Professionalization of Social Work, Transnational Studies.
Stefan Köngeter is an experienced researcher and academic in social work and sociology. His research activities comprise a range of different topics in social work and social sciences: child and youth care, professionalization of social work, transnational studies etc. In his more recent research he is engaged in studying the transnational history of social work knowledge. From 2008 to 2010 he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Research Training Group on “Transnational Social Support” founded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and received 2010/ 2011 a postdoctoral research grant of the Canadian Bureau for International Education. He conducted his research project at the faculty of social work, University of Toronto (Canada). Besides this, he is an expert in qualitative social research and its methodology, with special emphasis on ethnography, narrative and interaction analysis, and evaluation research. Within the last few years he published his thesis with a focus on professionalization of social work, co-edited a book about ethnography in educational sciences and social pedagogy and is co-editor of a special issue of Diskurs Kindheits- und Jugendforschung on leaving care. His journal articles discuss methodological, theoretical and practical developments in social work.
